How To Make Money With An RSS Feed

Most people know a little something about RSS feeds, but few people know about them in depth. Here are some basic facts about making money with an RSS eed that you may need to know.

RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts. The initials stand for really simple syndication.

A user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. They also offer an excellent way to make more money.

Here are 6 ways you can use an RSS feed to make money.

One: Add RSS feed to your website and blog - By adding RSS feed to your site you will be able to reach your intended readers because these feeds will increase the traffic to your site. Search engines love RSS feeds, especially if you constantly update your website and blog.

Two: Send RSS to everyone you email. You can easily incorporate RSS feed into email. The emails that have these feeds will not be banned or scanned. So your email will get to the reader that it was intended for with the RSS feed.

Three: Charge people money to subscribe to your RSS feed. However, you want to make sure that you are offering something of value, before you do that. It needs to be interesting, helpful and unique enough that people will pay to subscribe to your feed.

Four: Incorporate banners in your RSS feed so you can make money from RSS advertising. You can even put paid links in the feed. It is easy to advertise really fast using RSS.

Five: Use RSS feed for public relation. You can keep in constant contact with the public. You will also be able to send out press releases, sales letters, news, product information and many other things through RSS. This will help you to make fast contacts which will mean more money for you.

Is There Still Any Importance of Incomming Links for Google?

From recent drops in PageRanks of various websites, another waves of discussion was started and the owners of websites who lost their ranks on Google were stunned initialy but when they recovered from the shock, they pointed their fingers to the SEO guys. Anyhow, after these shock question was raised that; Is There Still Any Importance of Incoming Links for Google?. In answering this question we found rumours again. So, I myself as new SEO student, tried to find answers and I found following notes from google.

(Following comments are copied from google’s page google.com/technology/index.html and printed here only for your information)

Google Still Says:

"PageRank Explained

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages’ relative importance.

Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don’t match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines dozens of aspects of the page’s content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it’s a good match for your query.

Integrity

Google’s complex automated methods make human tampering with our search results extremely difficult. And though we may run relevant ads above and next to our results, Google does not sell placement within the results themselves (i.e., no one can buy a particular or higher placement). A Google search provides an easy and effective way to find high-quality websites that contain information relevant to your search."

From above paragraphs it is clear that the inbound links from related and important pages are most valuable as far as page rank is concerned. Also from these word we have have found answer of another rumour that google is not going to sell placement with in results.

Please remember, no one can give guarantee of position one on any search engine as far as Search engine optimization service provider is concerned. However, professionally experts do their best and follow the procedures and maintain quality and required quantity, than there is no doubt that we can bring your website on the top position of any search engine.

Getting More Links to Your Website

By getting more links you have to your site (AKA backlinks), the higher listing you have with search engines. It also brings you more traffic. You can also exchange links with another site. This in known as a 2 way link. They are not as good as a one way link where there is a link to your website only. A good way to get one way links is submitting a link to a directory website. There are thousands of these directory websites. People could go there to add links to their website and look for websites they may like..

Each of these websites has their own rules. Many of them offer 3 choices. You send them your information (add link or submit link) and they look it over and decide whether to accept it. One choice is a free submission. Some sites may say that with this choice it may take up to 6 months before they review your site. These groups want you to create links back to them so they can become bigger. When you do this then you are submitting a reciprocal link. This gets more of a priority and they will review your link sooner plus other perks.

Then there is the paid for link called possibly a featured link. This type of link gets looked at the soonest and you get other perks like being able to submit other pages of your website in addition to the main page. Submitting these links to so many sites can take a lot of work. Some sites offer to do it for you if you pay them. So that is something you can try.

A way of getting two way links is by exchanging links. You can just look for sites that you like and ask them if the want to exchange links. there are also link exchange places that help you to do this. This group has many people that are looking to exchange links with you or you can ask them to exchange links. I have been using one of these for 2 years.

With the group I use, if a site requests a link from you, they have to put up the link first. Then they check it and notify you that it was done and for you to do the same. Many of these sites will put your link on a page that is not connected to their website so no one will ever see it. The exchange group can check that the link is on the page but the page might not be connected to the website which means it does you no good. So you have to check this. There are many unscrupulous people on the internet.

When it comes to links to your website there is a difference of how much it helps you. The Google page rank is a way to measure how much a link from that site helps you. The higher the number the better. The numbers are from 0 to 10. Some experts tell you not to exchange links with a site that has a PR of 0. If it is a bad site, it could hurt you to have a link to it. Some say not to exchange links with a site that has a PR lower than yours.

Social Bookmarking and Power Linking

Just in case you missed it... the Web has changed.

I think a little history of the Internet is in order to grasp the big picture. I'm not going to give dates (late eighties and early 90's)... I'll just give a quick run down.

I would say nearly fifteen years ago - like most people, I had a dial up Internet connection that allowed me to log into various College computers, BBS's (bulletin boards) and Newsgroups.

The Internet was much different than the Web is today. There were no graphics... it was totally text based and everything was dial up. All you could do was basically post to a newsgroup, post messages on some BBS's and send email. Internet Marketing as we know it today did not exist.

In time though - a few brave souls ventured out of the shadows and began marketing within the newsgroups. This started wars between the "Purists" and new "Marketers" that I still remember to this day.

You see, the Purists considered the Internet to be their own little playground. They viewed anyone selling something as evil. After all... Marketers had the TV, the Radio, Magazines, Newspapers, etc, etc as an avenue in which to sell their crap. "The Internet is ours" was their battle cry.

They viewed the Internet as a way for them to communicate with each other without having to wade through all the BS advertising - and they could control what was being said. When the evil "Marketer" entered the picture, this all changed - and it changed quickly.

Once the evil Marketer had discovered the Internet as a new marketing medium, the "Purity" of the Internet, newsgroups and BBS's was destroyed forever.

The Internet was now becoming just another medium for Marketers to sell their wares. It was inevitable and only a matter of time before this happened. But the Purists fought it tooth and nail.

The Newsgroups and BBS's were now inundated and overrun with advertising. There was so much spam that you could hardly follow a thread or make sense of it. The thread may have started out discussing a subject such as "Microsoft DOS" as it's first post... but it was hard to make sense of it as the evil Marketers would post "off topic" spam ads trying to sell their wares throughout the threads.

As we all know things have changed a lot since those "Caveman" days... the evil Marketers persevered and the Purists lost the War (or did they?)

Jump to present day...

The Purists did not really lose - they just lost a battle ten or fifteen years ago, but they have recently won the War and staked their claim on the Internet as belonging to them with Web 2.0.

Just in case you missed this "coup d' etat" - give some serious thought to the current environment on the Web and Social Networking specifically. The Web no longer belongs to the evil Marketer. It is back in the hands and control of the Purists and they are once again controlling the conversations.

I know... it sounds like a bunch of BS, but for the most part it is true.

The Importance of Linking

The easiest way of improving your ranking in the search engines is link building. Link building is the practice of encouraging other websites to link to your own website. If other websites are linking to your website, your "link popularity" will increase, search engines will deem your website important, and in turn, you should receive more traffic. The majority of search engines use link popularity as an important factor in ranking relevancy. Link popularity simply is the number of links from other websites that point to your website. The links that we use on the site have a useful mechanism of re-directing net users who made a visit to another site going to your own site address. If you are able to capture the right way of performing the re-direction thru good linking strategy, then you have a better chance of getting the outcome that you desire- more traffic. But Search engines are not just looking for the number of links; they are looking for quality links. Quality links are links from website that possess a high Page Rank. As Search engines consider the theme of a website which links to you, it is best to get links from websites that are associated with the industry in which you do business.

How to obtain links

  • One of the preeminenft ways to advance your sites link popularity is to offer quality and informative content to your visitors and get natural links in return. If they find the information interesting enough, they will naturally link their website to your own.

  • Directory submissions are the fastest and easiest way to obtain inbound links. But, because Internet directories link to thousands of other websites, their value gets diluted by all the other links. You should submit to industry related directories to indicate to the search engines your line of business. A Google search can help you find these types of directories.

  • A good way to generate inbound links to your website is to write articles. These articles can then be submitted to article syndication websites, where other webmasters are free to use your article on their website. They must however provide a link back to your website in return for using the article.

  • Another way to generate quality inbound links is through reciprocal linking. This type of strategy involves contacting other webmasters and proposing a link exchange.
  • Link popularity is a very important strategy for attaining high rank with search engines. The link building process must be given high priority in your Internet marketing efforts.

    Best practices for link building

Link Building is considered by many people to be one of the most useful and effective Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) technique to achieve high ranking on the search engines. Actually, if you have not done or started doing any link building yet, you should seriously consider doing some now or at least contact an SEO company that would do the link building for you.

There are different ways of doing link building but not all are good so you have to be really careful. Link directories are not as effective as they used to be, but they can still be considered quality links. But not all directories are good to use, and there are very few directories that are still worth submitting to like Dmoz for example. Another link building method that is worth doing is articles and news submission. The great thing about good article or news sites is that their article pages actually rank highly and send highly qualified traffic. So as well as getting inbound links from them you will usually get qualified traffic to your website. Link baiting is a method where the quality of your content is useful or entertaining enough that people will want to link to it, thus improving your number of inbound links and your position in the search engine results pages. It can be done through your website’s content as well as through your blog! Link exchange can be bad for your website and get you banned from Google only if you got too many irrelevant links from poor quality websites. And if you use link exchange, you have to be very selective and be very careful. Finally you can use forums and blogs for your link building. Most forums allow members to leave signature links or personal profile links. If you make quality contributions some people will follow these links and potentially read your site, link at your site, and/or buy your products. You can also post comments in blogs with a link back to your website.

In the end, remember that inbound links using good anchor text are your goal from a Search Engine Optimisation perspective. It is much better to have 10 inbounds from relevant sites with a Page Rank of zero, than 100 inbounds from unrelated, Page Rank 8 websites. And think long-term when building links, as it takes time and will never be a one time work.

    3 Ways to Get Backlinks

We all know that without traffic, your Internet business will do nothing. Backlinks, acting like large roadside signs pointing to your blog, will direct new visitors to your blog and give your blog the needed exposure. I will discuss three ways to get backlinks pointing to your blogs.

Submit your blog post to social directories - This will quickly get backlinks to your blog. when done properly, a submission to Stumble Upon and Digg will create many backlinks and huge amounts of traffic.

Article marketing - Article marketing is still a great way to create traffic and back links to your website and for the most part is free. Just make sure your author bio box is well written and includes links to your blog. This is what gets the links to your blog as most article submission sites don't allow direct links. If they do then link away in the article also.

Post comments - A very effective and easy way to create backlinks is to comment on blogs that are related to yours. If people like your comment, they will most likely go to your blog to read more of your material. One great way to create back links is Posting comments in other people’s blogs. Every time you post you are able to include your name and your website address in some comments. Try to include your primary keyword in the name if you can.

These are three ways to get backlinks to your blog. None of them are hard and they don't take a long time to do. Once you start doing them regularly, it will become second nature to you, just like watching all the traffic coming to your blog. I hope this helps you in your endeavor to make money on line and improve your Internet business and blog.

How To Use RSS Feed More Effectively To Increase Traffic

Getting more traffic to your blog or website is the best way to make money on the Internet. To do that you can also build an e mail marketing list and get your message out that way. Another way that really is great is using RSS feeds to keep people up to date on what is going on in your business.

RSS is the acronym for Really Simple Syndication and it is basically a format that is used all over the internet for syndication of news and other related sites, which can include all major news sites and personal web logs.

Many people will use RSS feed to help them increase their traffic for their home business.

There are five key ways to use RSS feed as a successful business tool for you.

One: You want to use RSS feed to get your domain blog-rolled but you first have to have the RSS in place. So if you don't know how to put it in place than you need to learn how.

You can do this by attaching links from other blogs and websites to your blog and website. This will help to increase your link popularity.

Two: Submit your RSS feed to the RSS directories. You will be able to drive a lot of traffic to your link this way and it will help to increase your link popularity with the search engines.

Three: Be sure and keep your RSS feeds up to date. You have to do this if you want to be indexed by search engines on a more frequent basis.

Four: Use RSS press release. This has many advantages and one of them being that you won't need to use email marketing as much because you will be able to spread the news to the important places as it comes in.

Five: Use RSS for real time advertising. For example, if your customer wants a product that is not currently available, when it becomes available you can use RSS to notify them.

This will help your customer service be better and will help increase customer loyalty also. Part of the success to making more money online is taking care of people when you get the chance.

Six: Many internet marketers still do not understand the importance of branding themselves. You do that several ways, but being able to establish your own credibility is a big key.

You can keep your name in front of your subscribers and build your credibility using RSS feeds. Over time you become a trusted source for quality information if you do it correctly.

Here are a couple of good websites for more information on RSS feeds:

    Building Traffic with StumbleUpon

Let the truth be told, StumbleUpon is one of the best sites on the net for identifying quality sites of interest. Social networking sites and other sites that are designed to bring a community of individuals together have grown significantly in the past 4 years. The psychology behind this is obvious: people enjoy interacting with others and expanding interactive online communities make this much easier now than it has ever been before. If you happen to own a blog this can provide the impetus for a great opportunity to significantly increase traffic to a blog. As previously mentioned, one of the best sites for this purpose is the brilliantly conceived community StumbleUpon which is designed to bring awareness to quality websites and blogs.

StumbleUpon is a unique concept that provides a forum for users of the site to tip their hat to sites that are of great value. In a nutshell, the way StumbleUpon works is that the users can create a social network of like minded individuals who flag notable web and blog content that users come across by accident. Hence, the name – StumbleUpon. Within these social networks one user can recommend sites to others which, of course, would increase traffic to a particular site/blog. Users can then rate a site with positive or negative ratings and a positive rating can seriously impact traffic to a blog.

How does the system work? StumbleUpon is based around a plugin that affixes as a toolbar in a browser and when one stumbles upon an interesting page they can add it to the community. This is where you can squeeze in plugs for your blog and let a huge community of members learn about it.

What makes this such an excellent resource for bloggers is the fact that the members of StumbleUpon are specifically looking for cool websites and blogs. Not to knock Myspace, but while MySpace can provide great value to people looking to promote their blog the reasons people join MySpace's are varied. As such, many people on MySpace may not really be interested in a cool blog at all. With StumbleUpon, this is not at issue as everyone is on the same page looking for cool and interesting websites and blogs. If you blog fits this bill – StumbleUpon is for you!

How to Get a PR6 Backlink

One of the major factors of Google's algorithm for calculating Page Rank(PR) and top SERPs (search engine result pages) is getting quality inbound links from authority web sites. Although the visible PR (on the Google Search bar) is historical (could be up to 4 months old) it is an indicator of that site's importance in Google's eyes.

    PR - Google Page Rank

Google PR uses a scale of 0 to 10 - there is a grey rank for dubious sites! A page rank of 10 is in your dreams! So 0 is the lowest and 10 is the highest. The scale is logarithmic - so getting a ranking of 2 is not twice as hard as getting 1 but significantly higher!!

So your aim is to get inbound links from sites with high PR. Of course, the higher a site's PR the harder it is to get a link. But not always - more about that later!!

    Relevancy of Link

The next issue is relevancy! If your site is about Perfumes, there is not much point in getting a link from a site about Washing Machines. If you get those type of inbound links, Google will smell a rat (sorry for the pun). Instead you should be looking for a site which is on the theme of Perfumes. Good PR links from such sites will do your rankings a power of good.

    Keyword

And there is more: choice of keyword for the outbound link. You have managed to find a site with good PR on perfumes and they are happy to exchange links. Carefully choose a page which has content about the keyword (or phrase) you wish to promote, and then ask for the anchor text to be the that keyword (phrase). Next - what page should you be linking to on your site? You MUST have a page where the content revolves around the keyword you are promoting - ideally in the title, H1 and text content. So linking to this page makes sense to Google. Google is looking for natural hyperlinks which lead to pages that are on topic! Google will give you brownie points as a result.

One final point make sure the webmaster you are exchanging content links with does not use the "nofollow" attribute on his external links. Links with the "nofollow" link will not pass Google PR to your site.

OK - you have all the information you need to maximise the use of the Google PR 6 link. Of course, the key is finding sites with PR 6 or better who will trade links. So here is the crunch and believe or not the tool to gain top PR links is currently freely available. See the link in the resource box for more information!

    RSS Channels

When subscribing to cable or satellite television, most of us select a programming package based on the channels available that are to our personal taste. Some people prefer Showtime to HBO, others can't live without ESPN, MTV, or the Weather Channel. Whatever our preferences, we have a choice as to the services we subscribe to.

Imagine adding a new channel to your TV... This channel though, runs in the background, alerting you to new content, so you don't miss out on anything and you don't have to keep tuning in to the channel to check if there is anything new to see. This channel will let you know the second there is new news. And it will let you view additional channels that are available, rather like having access to all of the Discovery Channels for one price.

Not only that, but this channel will also allow you to privately, securely and instantly communicate with others. And to put the icing on the cake, you could subscribe to this channel for free!

Does that sound too cool or what! That would be worth having right? Especially for free...

Now apply that whole concept to your computer. Use your computer to subscribe to that channel. You can. The channel that I am referring to is an RSS based system that does all of those things, and more, for you, and at no charge. Just click to open and click to close. It's actually easier than using the TV remote.

Where can you get this? Only one place...

This system is only available through Quikonnex publishers. No other RSS based system has this capability. There is nothing else like it available, anywhere. Why? Because the programmers at Quikonnex are visionary. They were into RSS before it was cool. They are light-years ahead of the pack.

How To Get One Way Links?

Once you’ve managed to build your own website you are facing a huge dilemma: how to get your site indexed by search engines and how to get those one way links so valuable for SE.

One important way of getting one way links to your site is doing slow manual directory submissions.

    You might ask why ‘slow’?

As anyone may know, a site is not immediately listed by a directory. It all depends on their human editors and on their availability to check all sites submitted to their directory. It may take up to 2-3 months for a directory to accept a site, as they’re all having a huge number of pending links each day.

Even if it takes quite a while for a directory to list a link, it is way better to spread this manual process over a few months period. This way the process will seem much more natural by search engines. No search engine will trust a large number of links of a new site being listed in a short time.

You may also ask why ‘directory submissions’ and why ‘manual’?

Directory submissions are still significant as major search engines like Yahoo and MSN still use directories in their search algorithms. In case you activate in a really competitive field, you should know that links listed in various directories help stabilizing your rankings when algorithm changes happen.

The ‘manual’ feature of this process is essential, as there is no software to pick the right category in each directory, fill-in the captcha and submit the site. Submission softwares having the same results as manual submissions are just an illusion of their creators.

Another way of getting one way links is doing manual article submissions. This process should be done in the same slow motion as directory submissions. The submission process should be spread over a longer period of time in order to get that natural aspect that search engines like a lot.

Except the fact that you get 2 links out of each listed article, the main advantage is right in front of your eyes (you, the one reading this) – there is a lot of people reading these articles.

There are a lot of debates regarding article submissions. Rumors say that listing the same article to more directories, that may be duplicate content and search engines don’t like that. However, nobody seems to have ‘felt’ such a penalty and no one knows for sure if that really exists.

One thing’s for sure - search engines will only return the article that is on the most ‘relevant’ site, the rest of all those articles you submitted get tossed into the duplicate content ‘filter’ - never to be seen by search engine users.

    Concentrating towards link building strategy

Strategic link building can be referred as a way of creating your competitive position in the "online market world". When potential customers need a solution to their problem, the first step that they will take is to do a search on Google. They may even scan directories; look out for articles and product reviews. Your linking strategy must get you on to those websites where the potential customers normally visit which finally makes up a market place. One of the best ways to begin any link strategy is with web directories. The two best of which I can think of is "yahoo" and the "open directory" (used by Google). You can generate huge amount of traffic, if you list your website in the above mentioned directories. There are many more directories in which you can get the website listed too. Just run a search for the words "web directory" on your favorite search engine and you will notice a list of directories. However, the directory that is the highest in the search rankings should be considered as the best since it is likely to generate the most traffic. You can also get your website listed in forums. Here, the webmaster forum, allows you to enter your URL in order to get feedback from other webmasters.

A good link building strategy is one where you look for many links from those websites which are considered as most important information based websites and also from those websites which customers and potential customers regularly use. If your website has good content then your website will have a good search engine ranking and also this will encourage other sites to link to yours too. See that your content is well written and is accessible to search engines. In other words, you must be aware of the kind of words that you write with the intention of attracting potential customers who are looking out for similar products as yours. You can also employ someone else to write for you if you are having short of time.

Another way of building links is by looking at media websites. The people looking for information in media websites, is large. If you seek coverage and a link to your website from media website, you will then get a significant out burst of traffic to your website. A particular group of people who had visited the media website is likely to link to your website. There are also other types of websites which are more likely to link to your websites, only if you have been referred by a respected editorial website which the people are aware of. Such websites can give you one way links. There are others who may ask for reciprocal link. You may also include them in your content or write a brief article about them. You may even go to the extent of recommending them to your visitors, if it is useful to your visitors.

You can apply the above mentioned link building strategies in order to get relevant traffic. However, it is up to you to decide which one works the best. You must do your own research towards link building strategy.

    Links From Articles

Links building is a primary job for developing link popularity. Link popularity is one of the vital measures taken in consideration by the search engines to rank your web pages. The number and the quality of links on your website would also play an important role for raising your page ranking. You can use various strategies such as article writing, software and tools to raise your link popularity.

But before you use any of these strategies for link building; it is a must for you to know your existing status. So you should, first of all, find out the link popularity of your website. And it is really a simple process. You can go to any search engine and type "Links: domain name of the website". Complete information regarding the links of the website will be presented to you by the search engines.

Now you can work to build up your links’ popularity. A number of people are making persistent efforts for building links from various resources. Articles are a good source of displaying the quality of information on your website. Indeed links from articles are greatly helpful in finding a better place in the search engine ranking.

Articles are actually the real attention grabbers on the web. They provide knowledge and information to the users and thus the users keep seeking for these articles regularly.

Unless you have a really good content on your website, you are not going to get the desired links. The basic rule for getting links from articles is to write them on a particular theme. Your articles must be focused and give relevant information to a subject related to your website. Keywords also play a significant role in generating links for you.

You can generate inbound or one way links as well as reciprocal links via these articles. Always make a thorough research of the most used keywords on the internet. The keywords suggest you a topic that people usually seek for information, on the internet. The articles you write must be rich in the keywords. You have to produce the relevant information keeping the good keyword density in your articles. For, this will make your article search engine friendly.

Every one is not skillful to develop such articles. Get some professional writers to do it for you. You can have your own team of writers or can get the articles written by freelance writers as well. Articles written by professional writers will help you in getting the targeted links. You can also keep these articles in a separate section in your website.

One more way to get links from articles is to get them published on the other sites, i.e., other than your site. Internet is full of flourishing websites that offer to publish your articles for free. These sites are a good platform to get noticed in the cyber world. The ezines, eBooks and online news sources are there to help you popularize your website as well.

You can also find some forums to publish your articles for free. Generally the forums do not allow you to put a link at the end of your articles. But the regular members can post their links under their articles. And this turns out to be really profitable for link building.

The primary advantage of getting your articles published is that the internet traffic you get from the article links is targeted. The articles of a particular theme will be only read by the people having interest in that particular subject. This surely, is going to improve your search engine ratings.

    Making money with RSS Feeds

First it was banner ads, then Google AdSense and now, the latest way to make money on your web site could very well be RSS feeds. Say what? I said: RSS is hot and you should be using it to drive eyeballs to your site. Here's how it works:

Depending upon who you ask, RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary". Regardless of what you call it, RSS is a way to automatically publish (syndicate) someone else's content on your web site. Now don't worry, that's not the same as stealing someone else's content. There is nothing illegal about using RSS feeds. In fact, the publisher of the content wants you to have it show up on your site and that's why he or she makes it available as an RSS feed to begin with.

So what's in it for all parties concerned?

Using RSS is a win-win for both the publisher of the content, who gets their name out to potentially millions of sites and you, the web site owner who is pulling the content onto your site.

Content, by the way, means anything that a publisher decides it means. Typical content includes news headlines, new product update notices, blog summaries and lots of other stuff. It's the "content" portion of the equation that's good news for you.

    Show me the money

One of the best features of hosting RSS feeds is that it gives your site an endless source of freshly updated and relevant content. This content acts as natural search engine spider bait which they will fill their little tummies on and come back for more every day. Their appetite for fresh content keep your rankings up.

Sticky Loyalty isn't a new Ben & Jerry's flavor, but it should be the goal of any serious webmaster who wants to create a web site that visitors return to over and over again. The use of carefully selected RSS feeds can make that happen by offering unique content which can't be found anywhere else.

Now please don't make the mistake of thinking "But they can get that same content at the publisher's site, why should they come to mine?". Just build it and they will come! Sorry, I couldn't resist saying that, but it's true. In addition to the RSS content, which they surely can get somewhere else, you are going to add your own sticky loyalty stuff that's all about whatever your site is all about to begin with. That combination of your own content and the RSS feed makes visiting you a purely unique experience that can't be found anywhere else.

You don't have to be a member of the Geek Squad to start showing RSS feeds on your site. Just visit any of the links below and get busy using RSS to make mo' money.

    Link Building Basics

A good analogy for links is votes, each link to your site is a vote in your favor and the sites with the most votes tend to get the highest rankings. Google & Yahoo place a lot of importance on the quality of your links in determining rankings.

In this article I will be sharing with you some important info on link building and some strategies to help your one way link building.

Before we get started, it's important to understand the fundamentals...

Beginning with the very basics, a link is a way of navigating from one webpage to another. An 'internal link' is a link within the same website. An 'external link' takes you from a webpage in one website to a webpage in another website. The meaning of 'backlink' is that your site is being linked to from another website.

There are 4 different types of links:

    * URL Link - This is simply a website url that is a link.

    * Text Links (aka static links) - This is the most common type of link (when you click on a word or phrase and it is a link)

    * Image Links - An image link is simply an image that you click on to navigate to another webpage.

    * Dynamic Links - These types of links are in another programming language called Javascript and while they also take you from one webpage to another, they have 'extra codes' to perform special functions.

(these types of links can appear in many different forms)

It is important to be able to recognize these types of links, even if you are not familiar with web design and programming. If you only can identify each type of link, that's enough. You don't have to memorize the codes.

What links does is to provide navigation for human visitors and for 'spiders'(aka: crawlers, robots, bots). Simply put, a spider is a computer program that goes to websites and gathers information. Search engines use spiders to visit and 'index' your website. This means that they gather information about your site in order to list it in their search results.

When the search engine spiders index your website, they follow the links to get from one webpage to another. It's important to know that search engines cannot follow 'dynamic links' and do not follow html links that have a special code in them that says 'no follow'.

The place where 'no follow' is commonly found is in the "meta tags" section of the website. Simply put, meta tags are information that is for the spiders only and is not seen by human visitors. You can see the code for any website in your browser by choosing 'view source'. (From Internet Explorer, choose Page » View Source. From Firefox choose View » Page Source)

If a search engine spider cannot follow a link from another website to yours, you can still receive visitors but the link will not have any value from a search engine optimization perspective.

What different kind of links could you get?

There are 2 types of links that you can get:

15 Best Link Building Ways That Never Fail!

Here are 15 best link building ways that promise to bounce your site to the top ten search results of Google or any other major search engine. Read them; understand them; and make sure that you use them to taste web success.

    Best Link Building Ways:

    * Post your links to some good and relevant directories. This is the easiest and quickest way to get links. But, remember; many reputed directories don't permit links to internal pages.

    * Have a few complementary sites that support your main website. If the former obtains a rank, contact other webmasters for a 3 or 4 way link building. But, never link your main site from the supplementary one or vice versa; or else the search engine may catch your pattern. Also, ensure that all your sites are under different IP.

    * Include a blog in your main site for obtaining plenty of natural links.

    * Submit quality content articles that talk about your product or service to about 3-5 relevant web directories. They are one of the best link building ways of obtaining one way links, plus attracting traffic to your site.

    * Contact various webmasters and submit your articles to them for one way link.

    * Request links from your business acquaintances or search for local sites.

    * Register your site with the Better Business Bureau. It builds credibility.

    * Create pages in Hubpages, Squidoo, and other such sites to obtain links.

    * Create a list on various topics and put your link with some respectable sites that are related to your business. There are many sites that allow you to do this.

    * Bookmark those pages of your site that are rich in quality content.

    * Issue an RSS feed and organize it, if possible.

    * Associate with forums and post your articles in it for links. Though most of the reputed forums provide NOFOLLOW links, ye they still help.

    * Purchase some high class text links from niche directories and blogs.

    * Use your creativity and create a page or tool that can be used by visitors. For example, create a unique calculator. Let visitors associate with the tool or use it in their own website. This helps you obtain lots of one way links, depending on the quality of the tool.

    * Provide something FREE! The whole world loves free things. This is perhaps the best link building tactic. Such an offer will lure many links towards your site. Search for website designing companies that provide free templates. These templates help get the sites a large number of one way links.

Still thinking about the best link building way? Stop! Pick a few from the ones stated above and watch your site enjoy a ranking among the top ten on Google search!

Backlinks: Don't Believe Most of What You Have Been Told

From my vantage point, at least, it seems that the entire Internet world has been going crazy lately -- all over the topic of backlinks. You know what these are, don't you? These are the little text links that are found on one webpage which point to another. That's their function: when you click on them, they automatically take you to that other place. Here's the problem -- everyone is finding out that the search engines value these links and use them in various ways to gauge the importance of a webpage, as compared to webpages with similar content. As a result of gaining this rather dubious "insight" we now have all sorts of website owners running around in a frantic effort to gain all the backlinks that they can for their website in the shortest amount of time. Let me set the record straight: if you focus on gaining as many backlinks as you possibly can, in the shortest amount of time, you are most likely going to sabotage your own Internet marketing efforts. The reason for this is that, in order to gain those massive amounts of links back to your website, you will be tempted to take shortcuts to acquire large volumes of links with a minimal amount of effort and expense. "But", you might say, "what's wrong with that? The more backlinks I have the more highly my site is going to be ranked." Here's what's wrong with that -- the search people know what's going on, and they are on the lookout for any type of suspicious linking behavior. For example, suppose you have a brand-new website, one that has been in existence for a week or two. Suppose you have recently purchased the latest "Warp-Speed Backlink Blaster," or some such similar "product" -- and have used it to mass-submit entries to 200 online directories. After pressing the "submit" button you relax, thinking that your website will SURELY jump 10 pages in the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages) two weeks from now. But, several weeks (or several months later) you discover, to your dismay that this long-anticipated boost in your website's rankings never materialized! Why not? Because search engines are looking for linking behavior to occur NATURALLY. When it comes to search engines, two fundamental rules apply: 1. They HATE anything that smacks of an automated process -- to them that is too much like 'cheating'. (I know you may disagree, but that is beside the point -- it's their show, not yours or mine...Sorry, but that's reality.) 2. They LOVE anything that leads them to conclude that real HUMANS are involved, doing the things the way humans do them. Now, back to our linking scenario: When you blasted out those 200 website backlinks within just a few days, what would that look like to the folks working at Google, MSN and Yahoo? Is it reasonable to think that a human being, working diligently, could (in most cases) acquire that many backlinks within that period of time (especially if it were in existence for only a short period of time)? Nope, it isn't reasonable -- the search engines know it, and you and I know it -- at least you will when you see the negligible effect it has on your sites rankings. If you want to try and trick the SE's, go ahead and try. It's your site, do what you like with it. Thousands of people try, every day. But if you want to do effective backlinking, do it NATURALLY. Here's where I get specific, so get ready to take notes: 1. If your website is new, don't mass-submit ANYTHING to get backlinks. NO new site suddenly springs into existence with hundreds (or even thousands) of backlinks within a few weeks. Think: if your site were gaining backlinks through visitors coming to your site and spreading the word, how many backlinks would your site end up with in it's first month? 1000? 500? Hardly. Look at your sites actual visitors -- if your (new) site got 30 visitors last week, how could it have acquired 500 backlinks -- except through some sort of dubious method? Hmmm... 2. A good linking strategy is maybe 5 links a week, something like that. Contrary to what you may have been told, perhaps -- and at odds with you may want to happen. But it's not contrary to natural linking patterns, and that's what the SE's look at. Acquire those backlinks at a reasonable pace, not at an automated pace, and you'll be just fine. 3. Don't acquire the same number of backlinks every day. Again, what website acquires those links NATURALLY at the rate of 2 per day, every day, every month? Some days put more links out there, on other days put out less. Some days (gulp) put out NONE. That's what happens in the real world, folks. 4. Don't go for the same type of backlinks. Vary the PR (page rank) of the sites that link to you. Get links from article submissions -- but not all the time. Comment on blog site postings and leave comments on Squidoo and Hub Page listings -- but not lots of them every day. Vary the mix...just like in the real world. In this matter of backlinking, you have two choices: act like a machine or act like a human. One choice will spell disaster for any site; the other choice will work all the time, every time, for every type of site, in every market and interest area, for any demographic, country, TLD (Top-Level Domain), or language group. Can you guess which one?

The Value of Your Link Link Partners

Good link partners are vital to the growth of your website. Without good link partners you won’t be ranked highly in the search engines, and you won’t receive the traffic you need to gain new customers and make new sales. Building high-quality links to your website helps it to succeed.
Websites that maintain good incoming links will get many targeted visitors from their link partners. These link partners are also a good source of information and can offer value for the visitors that come to your website more often. The idea behind link partners is to find web sites with complementary content so that you enhance your web site. For example, if you sell computers, it wouldn't be a bad idea to link to a site that sells printers.
Linking to your competitors is much more dangerous. The fact of the matter is that when you link to your competitors you are handing them your business. They may be handing some of theirs back to you, but the trade off simply isn't worth it. If you are in a situation where it is your product or theirs, do not link to them. Aside from the obvious issue of losing business to their site, you may even lose the returning link if you don't keep an eye on it.
When dealing with link partners, there’s virtually no point unless you get reciprocal links. These links make your website look good, as well as getting you targeted traffic from users clicking on the links. When you are optimizing your site for key words, however, it is important to link to sites that provide more information regarding the content that you have provided. In cases like this, the link is already helping you. If you get a returning link in addition it's like killing two birds with one stone.
With good-quality incoming links, you will benefit greatly from the increased traffic to your site. Most major search engines’ rankings are at least partly based on the number of quality links pointing to your website. Google, HotBot, AltaVista, MSN, Inktomi and more all use link popularity in their formula for calculating rankings.
The value of your link partner's sites will be very important, as many of the search engines use this in determining how relevant your site is to the terms that are being searched on. A site with a page rank below three generally isn’t worth exchanging links with. Then again, if the site is on its way up, it might be a good idea to get in on the ground floor. If you are curious as to whether a site is going to be accumulating a higher page rank in a short period of time try going to http://www.iwebtool.com/rank and punching the site’s URL into the "backlink" tool or the "page rank predictor." These will show you how many links the site has going to them and will let you know what the page rank could be within the next three months.
You must always keep an eye on the value, and use value-for-value exchanges only. Make sure that your link doesn’t get removed from any sites you link to, and remove your own link to them if it does. Many people will agree to link with you and then remove your link after a week or two. If you leave your site linked to them, then they’re the only one benefiting.
Good link partners are hard to find, and it will take some time for them to respond. You may have to contact them more than once, and probably won’t take you seriously if you just ask them to trade you links. It is important to provide them with information relating to your company and let them know why your link will be worth while to them. If you are serious about SEO, you will be able to let them know that you expect your page rank to explode within the next few months and you may be able to accumulate links this way.
It’s important for to make sure that you links are checked on a regular basis. Of course you don’t have much control over the incoming links, but you can still do whatever you want with the outgoing ones. You should immediately remove any links that don’t work, as they can and will bring your search engine rankings down.
By understanding how link partnering works and maintaining good quality links on your website, you can increase your targeted traffic and improve your sales. After all, isn’t that the whole point of having an online business? Just remember that your website, like any other business, takes time and effort to make it succeed, and any little way you can speed up the process is good – as long as it’s not against the rules, of course.

Link Building - An Important Technique for Search Engine Optimization

One of the very important aspects of search engine optimization is link building. Ask any SEO services expert and you will get to hear how important it is go for link building. There are two kinds of link building - one is the natural link building where links are generated manually, and the other is link building by using software. Search engines discourage link building by using some software, while on the other hand natural link building is considered in high esteem.

But before we move on with more on link building, let us first see why we need link building at the first place. Link building was originally done to provide visitors with more information on a particular topic. In the earlier days, when Google and other search engines did not consider link building as an important tool to decide the popularity or utility of a website, owners of websites used to give and take links freely with the sole intention to provide their visitors more information on the subject they dealt in.

Soon Google followed by other leading search engines started recognizing links as a way to tell how informative a website is. The more the website is referred to in other sites, the better are the chances for it to rank well. Providing the links of a competitor's site or any site on the same theme would indirectly mean diminishing the value of one's own site and promoting the competitor's site. And eventually, people stopped referring links of other sites (especially competitors' sites) on their own website.

Then the concept of 'on theme' link building and 'off theme' link building developed as a part of SEO services. While people discouraged on theme link building - which is providing links of the subject - the concept of 'off theme' link building really got popular as a Search engine optimization technique. Off theme link building is basically providing link or referring a site which caters to a subject which is not of the same theme but has a theme which is related to the subject of our site. For example, if our site deals in mobile phones, the related site which we might refer can be one that deals in Bluetooth accessories.

There are benefits of link building not only from the point of view of search engine optimization, but also from visitor's point of view. If you provide your visitors, reference to other sites, where they might find information that can be useful to them or industry updates, then visitors do come often to your site to gain more knowledge or just to stay updated. This is also helpful to you as you maintain a steady flow of web traffic. Your site acts like a one stop shop for all the knowledge they want. This also helps in the promotion of your site both for search engine optimization as well as for retaining customers and visitors.

3 Shocking Ways That Web Masters Reduce Their Link Exchange Results

Swapping links is still a tremendously popular method of building incoming links to your website and so increasing your visitor numbers.

But there are still an astonishingly large number of ways in which web masters make it difficult for other people to exchange links with them.

And let's be honest - the easier you make it for other web masters, the more links you will end up with.

So let's examine some of these ways as examples of tactics you should avoid if at all possible in your campaigns. All three of these examples are things I have seen on live websites in the last week or so, so these are really going on right now.

    1) Demanding A Minimum PageRank (PR)

To many web masters, PR is the be all and end all of link swapping. To a certain degree this makes sense but be aware that Google is getting smartrer all the time. If it spots a site with no PR0 sites linking to them then this may well look unnatural.

And Google doesn't like annatural. It's one way Google ascertains whether you're trying to "game the system" and if you get caught you may find yourself delisted from Google altogether.

What's more, a PR0 site will likely gain Page Rank at the next Google update if it's a new site, so you would have had a quality link on that site if you were willing to be patient.

Infact, I've had sites go from PR0 to PR4 in a single indexing (and plenty of other people have experienced the opposite as their Page Rank vanishes overnight).

So the point is - you're making decisions based on a highly fluid and flexible quality like Page Rank whihc will be constantly changing. And as a result you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Make the *quality* of the site in question the primary decision-making factor and I think you'll have a far better long-term strategy.

    2) No Blog Links

It's true that spam blogs (or "splogs") are rife but equally there is an ever growing number of good-quality blogs with excellent content, high readerships and lots of incoming links.

Excluding blogs altogether rules out exchanges with a huge pool of sites that are perfect for link exhcanges so take off your blinkers.

Indeed, with blogs being accepted into standard search engines and directories *as well as* specialised blog and RSS directories, this can even mean that they offer your site even more that a standard website.

    3) No Link Exchange Form

Too many sites still expect web masters to email them to exchange links rathet than filling in a small form on their website. Not only is this frustrating for potential linkers because it's so slow but emails increasingly get lost in cyberspace or in today's spam filters and so may not even be received.

So use a contact form which makes life easier for visitors to your site and also ensures you get all the information you need to make a decision about te suitability of potential link partners.

There are not a lot of people who have heard about link baiting. Perhaps they're thinking that the process can be a little bit complicated. The truth is it's not. The logic is actually pretty simple and very obvious. As the name implies, your main reason for link baiting is to attract inbound links to the different pages of your website.

Why do you have to pursue link baiting?

There are two good reasons why link baiting is an excellent technique. First of all, it can improve the strength of your pages. The more inbound links your web page has, the stronger it will become. As you know, search engines are attracted to web pages that are considered strong. Hence, you will enjoy much better search engine rankings.

Second, you will be ranking not only on your targeted keywords or phrases, but also in related terms. This is very important if you want to improve your chances of being seen in search engines. For example, if you are operating a website about acne treatments, then those who are building websites that promote beauty and wellness. Thus, there's a huge possibility that your web pages will show not only in the keyword "acne treatments" but you may also show up for "beauty and wellness". Keep in mind that besides ranking, you want traffic going to your site for better sales conversion rate. Link baiting can help you achieve that.

How do you perform link baiting?

Perhaps what you need to focus on right now is how to actually do link baiting. After all, you already have a good idea as to the reason why you need to do it. To help you out, here are some techniques that you need to keep in mind:

    1. Know what your Internet visitors want from you. You will never get linked if you don't give them the kind of material that they are currently looking for. Hence, with a little research, you will get to know what appeals to them. For example, if you are developing a health and wellness product, and you are hoping to get links from websites operated or catering to mothers, you may like to develop a how-to article on how they can save their cash by developing home-made remedies.

    2. Create the page that will be worth linking to. When you already have an idea of what they're looking for, it's high time that you create these pages. How do you do it? There are practically a lot of ways. Articles still work very well to them, but you have to make sure that they are highly engaging and very convenient to read. You can make use of bullets and numbered lists to improve the overall look of your articles. Other methods may include podcasts and videos. They add variety to your linker's web pages and thus would definitely appeal to them too. Ensure that you can provide as much options as you can for linking. Think of you tube. They have URL and embed code.

    3. Perform a test to your page. Before you officially launch the page, you need to get a feel first if you're doing the right thing. The easiest way is to allow your group of friends or family members to read what you've done. Make sure that it's going to be their first time to read your article, listen to your podcast, or watch the video. Observe their reactions or, better yet, get feedbacks from them. Another trick is to post your link to message boards and in groups. Normally, they will be more than happy to provide you with the feedbacks that you need. Ensure that you can take note of all those suggestions as they can surely help you to enhance your page for link baiting.

    5 Linking Strategies that Work

One of the most effective ways to promote your business online, especially if you use search engine optimization to build traffic, is linking.

However, as a certified Web CEO professional, and someone who also uses only "white hat" optimization strategies, I see people make a lot of mistakes when using this technique.

Below are some of the strategies that I use to make linking more effective, as well as raise my rankings in the search engines.

    1. Do your homework first. You're probably wondering what "white hat" techniques are.

"White hat" techniques are techniques that will always work with the search engines, like writing articles, blogs, and press releases, and optimizing individual pages for the search engines.

These are the primary techniques I use in addition to linking because they work.

Just ask Tinu Abayomi-Paul, Tinu is an expert when it comes to using search engines to build traffic to her sites.

She wrote me the other day to thank me for "inspiring her". I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I do know that she uses a lot of the same techniques I do to promote my sites. She now has over 90,000 relevant entries in Google, more than a lot of the top "gurus" on the internet.

The fact is, the more pages you have listed in the search engines, and the more links you have pointing back to your site, the more likely you are to be found.

Although writing articles, blogs, press releases, and optimizing pages definitely works, you still have to do your homework. This means actually doing a search in the search engines to find out how sites get to the top, i.e. what keywords they use, how their pages are optimized, etc.

I use Alexa, http://www.alexa.com, for this because it allows me to look at traffic stats, as well as see what sites are linked to each other.

To get started, search for the keywords you are targeting. Take a good look at the sites at the top. This includes studying the keywords, titles, and descriptions they use in their headers. Also, read the text of the pages. It's not that hard to optimize your page(s). Just write search engine friendly content that repeats your keywords. Make your content easy for your readers to read and understand though.

You can also read Linking Matters, http://www.linkingmatters.com. This short, and free eBook in PDF, will give you more tips on linking.

    2. Link to complementary sites. I get link requests all the time and I have to reject about half of them. The reason why is that I won't link to sites that have nothing to do with mine.

I offer small business, internet marketing, and search engine optimization and submission products and services. Links to quote sites, joke sites, and shoe sites don't fit with this.

The key here is to understand that not only does Google, the most important of all the search engines, look at how many links are pointing back to your site, but they also look at the relevance of the links.

Powerful Link Building Procedure Accompanied By Patience

The real intention behind all of the search engine optimization and link building campaigns is to have better website rankings. You as the webmaster have already set up your online presence through your own domain name and internet address but after taking a look at the millions of websites listed and competing with each other on Google and other search engines, you might feel a bit confused.

You might wonder what you actually are going to do to be among the top ranking websites and since you have heard from another webmaster that links are the real factor behind the search engines success today, so begin your link building programs.

But do you have any idea of the number of links to be named as perfect and enough? Are you going to add the links to your website homepage based on a flashing and rushing method, creating tens and hundreds of new links per week? Who are you going to ask for learning the optimal number of links needed for your web pages?

Well, these and so many other questions might come across your mind because no one actually knows the exact answers to the questions mentioned.

So what is the solution, you might ask? In fact all of the professionals in the search engine optimization world suggest that the hurried methods will lead to some problems and failures on the web and the link building pace too is one of the steps to be taken with considerations, study and patience.

Please note that the successful websites are the ones having patient webmasters and owners, because the search engines in general and Google in particular is very wise when it comes to adding some links to websites and by establishing too many links in a short period of time, you might actually damage your site raking on the web.

Please do not get yourself confused with the number of the links needed for having a top ranking site. It is not that easy to mention whether 5 or 25 links are enough to push your website among the top ten websites on Google, because if it was that easy, no website could be at the top of the listings for a long time as others would outperform it by adding more links.

But in reality you can see that many of the top ranking websites in every niche are able to remain there for a long time, and some of them might be there for years, and without any fears from other colleagues and competitors getting to the top of them.

But one thing about these powerful websites is always true and that is the pace of adding the new links.

Nearly all of the high ranking websites have been involved in link building programs using an assured way of adding the new inbound links regularly and not too hurriedly.

Please note that it might take a long time to get high rankings this way but it is very helpful in practice.

All of the search engines love to see the progress of websites achieved through a constant, regular approach and this is why Google for example never likes to see thousands of instant links added to a very newly built website overnight.

Manual Directory Submission And Way Of Link Building

For any site owner its first and main topic that how we collect more and more back links because without back links we cant do any things online.

If you optimized you site perfectly and you have also good and unique contents according to your keywords then search engine crawl your site and index them too with some importance because you are managing good and unique contents, but due to lots of competitors its impossible to get soon good position, without start link building for your site, because due to link building you get lots of traffic and due to traffic your link become popular and because you are managing good contents with your site which are very attractive and useful for visitor then there are more and more chances to get excellent position on search engine listing.

Hey, but listen there are also many types of link building like back links from forums site, Blog sites, Article directories, and web directories, but always keep in mind that if your back links come from relevant sites or pages then it would be more beneficial than other because traffics through this type of back links are known as quality traffic and quality traffic means more and more profits from your site.

So, now we have a question that how can we get quality traffic for our site?

We start our link building work from cheap and best resources web directories for quality back links, check and confirm always before directory submission that directory are SEO-friendly or not because some directories use "no follow" tag for your link and that type of links are valueless for your site.

When you are going to start directory submission work then keep some point always in mind that you are optimize your submission or not?, with your submission title your keywords exist or not?, and are you submit your link to most appropriate category? Because these some common points can make directories links as quality links and these can make your directories links as valueless links, and reasons are most of directories use your title to give you back links and if you are using your keywords with your title that means you get a back links from related keywords, and links would be count as quality back links.

Once when you complete your quality directory submission job, you would start to get positive response from directory after one days to more than three months because some directories will approved your links within 24 to 48 hours but some directories will take times up to 3 months, you can resubmit your site after three months because if your submit your site before than three months then your links can be detected as spam producer so avoid duplicate submission soon, after three months if you will try again then may be some directories will say you that your link is already in the directory and if not then they will accept your link. Because some directories have time limitation to live you link and some directories was reject your link due to some terms and conditions like your traffic ranking is very low or should be page rank 1 or 2 minimum etc then after three months you have good traffic due to link building and if you are completing quality link building then your page rank also would be 1 or 2 and then after you can submit your link again to that type of directories too who is looking for minimum page rank.

Why You Need To Find Your Niche On The Net

Once upon a time I traveled about selling my wares at events and festivals. I had baby clothes, adult clothes, toys, vacuum covers, posters and a plethora of other unrelated items in my booth. My success? Let’s just say that if I had it to do again I would have focused more on a single category for my booth.

But what in the world does this have to do with your niche on the net?

History repeats itself till people learn. When I first started out on the net I still brought a variety of categories together as one hoping to attract everyone no matter if they were young or old, rich or poor, free or slave (errrr, okay that one’s a bit out there but I think you get the point.)

Today when I develop a site I try my hardest to stay within a niche topic. Why? Simply put people give much more attention to a site filled with topically related information than they do to one that seems to hold everything including the kitchen sink.

Therefore, if your goal is to make a living on the Internet finding your niche on the net is critical to your success. When people know what to expect they are more likely to consider your work both valid and informative leading to greater credibility for your website. By and large, people simply are interested in hearing about who the latest grand marshal of the rose parade is on a website where the focus is improving your chess game no matter how well you might write.

Further, the tighter you can focus your niche the better your chances of success. For example, a site about shoes may have an audience while a site about Nike sports shoes will have a much stronger audience because the people arriving know exactly what to expect from the content on your pages.

In conclusion, success on the net requires the ability to find your specific niche on the net. The tighter you focus the niche you select the better your chances of success in the world of Internet Marketing. Choosing not to take this advice will leave you as just another website rather than one of great authority and interest that people flock to for their niche fix.

RSS Basics You Need to Know

Have you noticed RSS links on your favorite sites? Do you know what it is and how it can help market your site? RSS means Really simple Syndication. To syndicate your website is to have it republished somewhere else.

An RSS feed is a way to publicize updates to your website. It could be the entire update including photos, or just a summary of the latest update. Users can read a summary from your RSS and go to your site for the full details. Usually a RSS feed includes the title of your update with a link to the original source.

Why should you learn the basics of RSS? Because, RSS has benefits to both the readers and the publishers

An RSS feed keeps your readers informed. Whatever your update is, a blog post, a new sale price on an item, new music, whatever it is subscribers are immediately updated. Many internet users look for the RSS feed to save time.

RSS can save valuable time and deliver a loyal following from busy internet users who receive the updates. By reading your RSS summary, the user can determine if the update is important to them without having to search your site to find the update.

If you are marketing online, you will reach a wider audience because people are more likely to subscribe to an RSS feed than they are to an email list. Users who utilize a RSS aggregator will be able to read your updates without their inbox overflowing.

While it may seem that the benefit of RSS is all on the user, your RSS feed can be used as a marketing tool. Subscribers to your RSS feed get the latest updates on your site delivered to them. RSS is still new, so using it exclusively may have some drawbacks. Some of your clientèle might want to receive email, or may not fully understand RSS. Also, some graphics and photos may not appear, but if this is how your customer wants to hear from you it is a good idea you make the option available to them.

Even taking the perceived drawbacks into account, a RSS feed will create more traffic. Many of your RSS subscribers will want the entire story and will click to visit your site.

How to use RSS for Internet Marketing.

The original intent for RSS was to allow users to customize their homepage to have links to their favorite sites, similar to the way bookmarking sites work. Applying internet marketing to the feed was an afterthought. Using a free service like FeedBurner, you can reach a much broader audience with your RSS feed than what you would have originally found.

The popularity of RSS is on the rise. This innovation to the worldwide web and online marketing is becoming more widely used every day. If you are promoting a website, Blog, Forum, etc. incorporating an RSS feed is crucial to the success of your efforts. You can benefit from using RSS immediately after getting the basics.

    Beware of Dishonest Link Exchangers

Maybe I have not been observant or just getting too old for this business for as long as I have been in it. In either case the following incident was very new for me even though I am aware of various scams using the Internet. I also think you should be aware of these practices as well, then you could decide to join them if it doesn’t ruffle up your feathers or go against it if it does. Recently I received a "link exchange" request email from a Webmaster. It was well written and looked flawless! I almost agreed to the exchange but I noticed, almost by accident, the link URL, where the link to me was setup, and the link URL, where he wanted me to use for his link were different. That grabbed my curiosity’s leg so I clicked on the URL where my link was and sure enough there it was, nice and pretty as you please with a whole lot of other links, not unusual. However, other pages on the site went no-where. They were blank except for the page that held all the links. Next I clicked on the URL that he wanted me to use for him and voila, his website came up with a page ranking of 5! Then I wondered if I could get to the links page from the index page of the actual website. Try and try I did without any success. There was nowhere any mention of any links page, partners page, link exchange page, nothing, zilch. I was puzzled for about 5 minutes as to what he was trying to do then his intent dawned on me. Needless to say I promptly informed the Webmaster that if he wanted to link exchange with me, he had to list my link on a page accessible from the website. I never had a response back! Subsequent to that email I got other ones in the days to follow from different Webmasters pretty much with similar content but not exactly, requesting link exchange. It is obvious they are trying to created one way links by having me link to their website while they send me off to some obscure page in a directory on the server not accessible from the website. The amazing thing is that their links page was loaded with various links, evidently a lot of Webmasters had fallen victim to this scheme. We all need to beware of practices such as this that is not equitable for both parties or takes unfair advantage of one’s good intentions to honestly go about the business of improving their page and/or SE rankings. I am amazed this is actually practiced and I am not sure that Search Engines know what’s going on but they will and hopefully put little value on the effort.
That’s why a service such as the one Design Firm is offering to Webmasters is so valuable. It is an honest link exchange where both parties could benefit.

Do You Know How To Increase Your Link Popularity?

Where’s the first place you go to look for a product or service you need? If you use the internet at all, your answer is probably a search engine. Search engines are what help us find information online. This is why link popularity is so important. If a customer can’t find your website, then you have no chance of making a sale.

    What Makes A Link Popular?

So, the question comes up – what makes a link popular? Plenty. Link popularity is the rating given to your website by the search engines. Your website’s rating determines where in the listing your site comes up when a certain keyword is entered into a search engine by a customer. Is your website on page one or page 5,000. It is imperative that you know where you website stands.

How Do I Make My Link Popular?

Search engines give ratings and status to websites that have links to their pages from quality, related websites. This is a simple system, but a very important one. Google created this system, and now virtually all other popular search engines employ it to rank your web pages in their indexes.

It is difficult to achieve link popularity when your keyword is a highly searched keyword. But without it, your site will never be seen in the search engines. Don’t get discouraged if you have a keyword that is one of the most used. There are methods that the top marketers use everyday to achieve link popularity on any keyword.

In your quest for making your link popular, be sure to stay away from what are known as "link farms". These are just sites with pages and pages of links in any category. You want to research the site that you are linking to. Just any link will not increase your link popularity. In fact, it could harm it. Search engines do not like link farms, and they may discriminate against your website if you are associated with one, so steer clear of them!

The next thing that is important in your link marketing strategy is the quality of the website you are linking to. If you are not sure you would want any of your customers or site visitors to see a certain website, then definitely do not link to it. You don’t want your site to look cheap. You want your visitors to know that your site only has quality information on it. Linking to poor quality sites could completely destroy your link popularity.

So what do you need to do to achieve high link popularity and improve your website’s ratings on the search engines? The first step, and a great starting place is to get a listing in a popular directory like Yahoo and Open Directory Project. Be aware that if your sight is business-related then it will cost around $300 a year to be listed in the Yahoo Directory. This is a great step toward linking popularity, so I strongly suggest paying this fee with yahoo. If your website is non-commercial then the listing is free, but it does take some time and follow up to assure your site actually makes it in the directory. Open Directory’s listing is free no matter what type of site, but as with Yahoo it does take some follow up to get listed.
